How the Figures
Are Gathered

Where each number on a listing comes from, how the two traffic tools are compared, and what happens when a fact cannot be read. These are the checks a domain clears before its listing goes out.

Figures as of Sep 2026

Sources

A listing draws on two kinds of input. Third-party figures come from Moz, Ahrefs (for Domain Rating only) and Semrush, and are shown as those tools report them on the review date, with no adjustment. Domain facts are fetched from the site and its registry when the listing is built.

Third-party figures

  • Domain Authority Moz 16 of 16
  • Page Authority Moz 0 of 16
  • Spam Score Moz 15 of 16
  • Referring domains Moz 16 of 16
  • Backlinks Moz 16 of 16
  • Domain Rating Ahrefs 16 of 16
  • Organic traffic Semrush (US database) 16 of 16
  • Organic keywords Semrush 16 of 16
  • Homepage backlinks Semrush 16 of 16

The right-hand column counts how many of the 16 listings hold each field. It is calculated from the data itself when the site is built.

Spam Score

The Moz Spam Score is the share of risk signals Moz finds on a domain, out of the signals it has seen on sites that search engines penalised. It is printed as Moz reports it and read in Moz's own three bands. The table shows how many current listings fall in each.

1–30% Low Few of the signals Moz links to penalised sites. 14
31–60% Medium Some of those signals. Read recent posts first. 0
61–100% High Many of those signals. Check closely before booking. 1

15 of 16 listings carry a Spam Score today.

Moz reports no score for some domains. Those listings show no Spam Score at all, rather than a zero, and are left out of the spam filter.

Traffic

Organic traffic and keyword counts come from Semrush's US database. Each is an estimate from one tool, printed as reported and never averaged or adjusted. The traffic sort in the Directory and the combined figure on each niche page use the same numbers.

Zero and missing are treated differently. A reported zero is a measurement and is shown as one. A missing reading is left off the listing, and in a traffic sort that listing comes after every listing that has a reading.

Authority and Keywords

Moz DA and Ahrefs DR both score links, not readers. Each listing shows both, the gap in points between them, and the number of keywords the domain ranks for, which is a better sign of search visibility.

DA/DR gap bands

Aligned Up to 5 points The two models largely agree. 1
Slight gap Up to 12 points A small difference. Common. 2
Wide gap More than 12 points One model rates the profile much higher. 13

Keyword footprint bands

None No ranking keywords No search visibility found. 0
Minimal 1 to 10 A few rankings only. 2
Narrow 11 to 100 Real rankings on a small set of terms. 7
Moderate 101 to 1,000 A working spread across its topic. 7
Broad Over 1,000 Wide visibility, typical of an established title. 0

Counts cover the 16 current listings.

These bands are fixed. They are not set relative to the rest of the directory, so a small inventory cannot make itself look better by comparison.

Reading both together

The highest DA listed today is obsails.com: DA 62 and DR 20, 42 points apart (Wide gap), with 6 ranking keywords (Minimal). Authority and footprint describe different things, so a listing shows both.

Facts Read From the Domain

These fields are fetched from the domain when the listing is built, not supplied by the publisher: registration from the registry's RDAP service, page count and cadence from the sitemap, crawler rules from robots.txt as Google documents it. The count is how many of the 16 listings returned a value.

  • Registration date Domain registry, via RDAP 15 of 16
  • Platform Homepage markup 16 of 16
  • Pages in sitemap All URLs in the sitemap tree 15 of 16
  • Publishing cadence Sitemap lastmod dates 12 of 16
  • AI-crawler policy robots.txt crawler groups 16 of 16
  • Declared language The page language attribute 16 of 16

How each check works

  1. Registration date. Taken from the RDAP record, following referrals. It must be a valid date in the past. Renewal and expiry dates are rejected.
  2. Platform. Detected from a generator tag, the site's own asset paths or a platform's runtime marker. Asset paths only count when they are served from the same domain.
  3. Pages in sitemap. URLs are counted across the whole sitemap tree, nested indexes included, on the same domain only. If any part cannot be read, no count is shown.
  4. Publishing cadence. Lastmod dates from the last 90 days, turned into a monthly rate. Days with more than five times the median volume are treated as bulk updates and dropped, and a rate the archive could not plausibly have produced is not shown.
  5. AI-crawler policy. robots.txt is parsed into crawler groups as the standard defines them. Agent names are matched exactly, an empty disallow counts as allowed, and an HTML page served in place of robots.txt is ignored.
  6. Declared language. Read from the page's lang attribute and kept only when it is a valid language tag.

Missing Data

If a check returns nothing, the field does not appear on the listing: no row, no label, no placeholder. It is also left out of the evidence score, so a listing is not marked down for data we could not get. Some listings show fewer fields as a result, and every field that is shown has a source behind it.

Rates and Ordering

No listing shows a price. Rates change, so each one says “Rate on request” and the current rate is given when you ask. Nothing that relied on a price, such as a value ratio or a budget filter, remains on the site.

Ordering is never paid for. There is no promoted tier and no featured slot. The directory sorts by Moz DA by default, and you can re-sort by DR, traffic or domain age. We do not own the publications listed, and a listing records what was measured, not an endorsement.

Review Date

All figures for a batch are pulled in one run and share one review date, so the listings in it are compared at the same point in time. The current set dates from Sep 2026 and covers 16 publishers in 7 niches.

Corrections

Think a figure is wrong? Tell us the listing and the field, and the check can be run again against the domain. Publishers can also ask for a listing to be corrected or removed.
